Multiple wildfires have threatened thousands of people in Southern California communities in recent days. The Sandy Fire has led officials to issue evacuation orders for more than 40,000 residents of Simi Valley in Ventura County. That fire, which began May 18, had burned more than 2,100 acres as of May 21, according to data shared by the state agency CAL FIRE.
