Archaeologists working at an ancient adobe pyramid in Lima, Peru, have unveiled the skeletal remains of a man they believe was sacrificed roughly 1,400 years ago during a ceremonial ritual, a discovery that opens a new window into a civilization that vanished centuries before the Inca Empire rose. The team, led by archaeologist Gladys Paz, found the adult skeleton buried inside a canal near the base of Huaca Pucllana, a massive stepped pyramid that straddles Lima's upscale Miraflores and San Isidro districts.
