A television writer who spent more than a decade developing a drama about tribal land disputes and casino politics has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit against Taylor Sheridan, alleging the creator of Yellowstone received her pitch, rejected it, and then built a billion-dollar franchise from her ideas. Lauren J. Salkin filed the complaint Friday in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, naming Sheridan, his management company Elevate Entertainment, Paramount, NBCUniversal, and several other defendants. The suit seeks damages, profits from the Yellowstone franchise, and an injunction barring the defendants from further use of material Salkin says she created.
