The short-term funding bill the U.S. Senate passed early Saturday would provide about $843.9 billion for defense, nearly half of the about $1.7 trillion in annualized budget authority it covers, according to a new Congressional Budget.
The Committee For a Responsible Budget said the amount translates to approximately $6 billion a day and it expects the U.S. to surpass $2 trillion in borrowing in the current fiscal year despite not being in a recession.
