Germany's Alexander Zverev defeated America's Ben Shelton in four sets Sunday to win the U.S. Open, extending a two-decade drought since an American man last hoisted the trophy in Queens. Zverev, 29, dismantled Shelton 6-3, 7-6, 5-7, 6-2 at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York, collecting $5.5 million in prize money and a Tiffany & Co. trophy presented by American tennis great Jimmy Connors.
