Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers declared a state of emergency after an EF3 tornado tore through four communities in the Fox Cities region, destroying homes and knocking out power to hundreds of thousands, though no one was killed. The tornado touched down at approximately 11:56 a.m. CT on Monday, July 27, about two miles west-northwest of Appleton in Outagamie County. It stayed on the ground for more than 20 minutes, carving a roughly 12-mile path through Appleton, Menasha, Neenah, and Oshkosh before the funnel cloud dissipated over Lake Winnebago at approximately 12:22 p.m. CT. The National Weather Service assigned a preliminary EF3 rating, the third-highest category on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, with estimated peak winds of up to 140 mph.…Open
