Strong winds turned a plane upside down at an airport in northern Italy on Friday, as a violent storm brought down trees and caused damage across the area.
Roughly 32,000 people in Indiana are still without power, 11 days after severe storms swept through the state. More than half of those people live in the city of Gary, where Black residents make up over 84% of the population. According to the region's electrical utility provider, NIPSCO, residents will have to wait until August 25 for power to be restored.
Floods from powerful thunderstorms devastated Gary, a city where a third of residents live below the poverty line. Full power restoration isn’t expected until next week.
A confirmed tornado was reported in Dover, Delaware on Thursday. Dover Police reported "significant damage" across parts of the city, including numerous downed trees, flooding and other storm-related damage. A State of Emergency was declared as emergency crews responded to impacted areas. According to the Delaware Emergency Management Agency, other locations impacted include "Camden, Dover Base Housing, Rising Sun-lebanon, Dover Speedway, Rising Sun, Wyoming, Little Creek, Highland Acres, Rodney Village & Kent Acres."
