Republican New York Rep. Mike Lawler and Democratic New Jersey Rep. Josh Gottheimer urged four agencies to crack down on so-called election misinformation propagated by artificial intelligence (AI) tools, prompting pushback from First Amendment organizations. The lawmakers asked the Department of Justice (DOJ), the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the Federal Election Commission (FEC) to monitor AI tools to prevent the spread of election misinformation in a letter Tuesday. The letter elicited warnings from First Amendment organizations who expressed their concerns about what it could mean for Americans’ constitutional rights to the Daily Caller News Foundation. …Open
‘Rendered lifesaving medical care to the 14-year-old’
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) saved a 14-year-old after the teen jumped out of a moving vehicle in Texas. On July 2, ICE law enforcement officer Javier Moralez of the Harlingen-Corpus Christi Sub-Office was traveling on Interstate 37 when he spotted two vehicles stopped along the roadside and an individual lying face down in a ditch, according to documents obtained by the Daily Caller. ONLY AMERICANS SHOULD ELECT AMERICAN LEADERS. Denise Nataly Migliore, an alien from Australia, was arrested by @ICEgov after falsely claiming to be a U.S. citizen and illegally casting ballots in two elections. This is yet another example of why we must pass the SAVE America Act… https://t.co/5oWeL2zqkz — Homeland Security (@DHSgov)…Open
A new investigation published Wednesday revealed the extent to which California’s public colleges and universities are stockpiling weapons, such as AR-15s and stun grenades, to keep their campuses safe. CalMatters, a non-profit investigative outlet, reported that university police in California’s higher education institutions have amassed scores of weapons and reserves of ammunition. The mass inventory from 2025 records includes hundreds of AR-15s, thousands of munitions laced with the same chemical found in chili peppers, drones, stun grenades, and even a submachine gun, according to the outlet. The Senate will hold the hearings before the August recess
The Senate scheduled several confirmation hearings starting Monday to confirm many of President Donald Trump’s nominees before the August recess. The Senate will move to confirm several nominees to serve in key positions, including the next director of national intelligence (DNI) and a new attorney general. Senate Republicans are hopeful they can fill the vacant government positions while time is running out. U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Jay Clayton, Trump’s pick to be the permanent DNI, is expected to attend his confirmation hearing Wednesday. The Senate initially scheduled Clayton’s hearing for June 17 just days after Trump nominated him to replace former DNI Tulsi Gabbard, though the hearing was suddenly…Open
New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani blamed his predecessor after his office released a map of the city omitting key immigrant groups. The map marking immigrant enclaves across the city omitted historically Irish, Italian, and Jewish areas but depicted other neighborhoods such as “Little Palestine” and “Little Bhod-Tibet.” When asked about the controversy at a press conference Friday, Mamdani blamed the discrepancy on former NYC Mayor Eric Adams’ office. (RELATED: Mamdani’s Immigrant Map Somehow Misses Three Groups That Defined NYC History) “This map was initially created by the prior administration in 2023, and when we inherited it, we added a few additional neighborhoods,” Mamdani said . “It’s clearly not an…Open
From Bloodshed To Bukele: A Timeline Of El Salvador’s War, Gangs And Crackdown
Although it may now be leading the conversation in safety and law enforcement, El Salvador reached that point only after a decades-long crucible, often exchanging the tyranny of military dictators for the subjugation of street kingpins. While it is impossible to pinpoint what began the decades of bloodshed in El Salvador, there is little debate over what ended them: the decisive yet controversial crackdown by the country’s current president, Nayib Bukele. In fact, Bukele’s campaign proved so effective that — for the most part — the only criticism from his foreign opponents remains that he came down too hard on the gangs and failed to do enough to protect the rule of law for those accused. Despite this, Bukele maintains an…Open
