SPRINGFIELD, IL — As news of the passing of beloved music legend Dolly Parton reverberated across America, tributes began pouring in from all over the country, including a touching memorial from a local man who said he would honor her by attempting to work all the way from 9 to 5.
Dolly Parton was well known for her music and iconic fashion, but she was also a successful businesswoman and a generous philanthropist. She began ‘The Dollywood Foundation’ in 1988 and launched her ‘Imagination Library’ program in 1995, inspired by her father, who never learned to read or write. The program has donated more than 330 million books to children across the country. President & Chair of The Dollywood Foundation, Jeff Conyers, joins Morning Joe to discuss the program and all the other ways Parton’s legacy stretched well beyond her music career.
The family of Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse fatally shot in January by Customs and Border Patrol agents during an immigration raid in Minneapolis, sat down for an interview with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos that aired on “Good Morning America.” Pretti’s mother, Susan, says “no one has given us the complete truth” about her son’s death, and no one has been held accountable.
