Brittany Cardinal was flying a kite with her young daughter in Surprise, Arizona, on September 6 when the child screamed. A coyote had come at the girl. Cardinal didn't pause. She yanked off her flip-flop, swung it at the animal, and screamed to drive it away. The coyote didn't retreat. Cardinal fell to the ground during the struggle but managed to free her daughter.
