Tropical Storm Cristobal formed in the open Atlantic on Wednesday morning and is already forecast to fall apart by evening, but a more consequential system, Invest 92L, is organizing behind it with a high chance of becoming a tropical depression within days. The National Hurricane Center gave Invest 92L high-range odds of developing into at least a tropical depression over the next two days, a designation that puts the system on a faster track than Cristobal ever managed. Cristobal, which strengthened from what had been Invest 93L, sits roughly 1,050 miles east-northeast of Bermuda and poses no threat to land. Hostile wind shear is tearing it apart.
