The white van plowed into Tiergarten park near the Brandenburg Gate around 10 p.m. Saturday as hundreds of thousands of people gathered for the final hours of Berlin's Christopher Street Day celebration. The vehicle struck several people before slamming into a tree. The suspect then fled on foot, and authorities say he also attacked people with a suspected machete before disappearing into the city.
