The US Navy recovered the body of Cmdr. Gabriel Edwards on Tuesday following an emergency helicopter landing in the Arabian Sea. The 102-hour rescue and rescue effort covered more than 14,000 square miles before the Navy found the missing sailor Sunday afternoon local time, the U.S. Naval Forces Central Command/U.S. 5th Fleet wrote in an X post. The search operation came after one of the U.S. 5th fleet’s helicopters had an “emergency water landing ” in the sea July 1.
