Search and rescue experts say that the safety of 50 rescuers searching for six missing skiers remains the top priority
Search crews responded to a report of an avalanche that occurred Tuesday in the Castle Peak area of California's Sierra Nevada, the Nevada County Sheriff's Office said.
Nevada County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post that six skiers in a group of 16 have survived the avalanche and are waiting to be rescued, but 10 of the skiers are still missing. The group consisted of four ski guides with 12 clients.
