A mass casualty incident was declared Tuesday after lightning struck more than a dozen inmates outside an Ohio prison during severe storms that have already claimed at least one life statewide. Inmates at the Grafton Reintegration Center in Grafton, Ohio, were walking between buildings after a meal when a lightning bolt hit the group. The initial emergency call reported five people struck. Within minutes, that number climbed to eight, and then doubled again. At least 16 incarcerated individuals were hospitalized, with several listed in critical condition.
