Governor Josh Green announced Sunday that more than 100 homes were "damaged and lost" on the Big Island alone after Lala briefly strengthened to a Category 1 hurricane Saturday and raked the island chain with torrential rain and hurricane-force wind gusts. At least one person was found dead, though officials have not confirmed whether the death was storm-related.
