A small, leggy figure that appeared in a NASA rover photo on Mars and then vanished from subsequent frames has fueled a fresh round of online speculation about what, exactly, the Curiosity rover keeps finding on the Red Planet. The image dates back to August 20, 2023, when NASA's Curiosity rover snapped several photos of the Martian surface around 6:27 p.m. ET. In one panoramic shot, a small object sits in the left corner of the frame, something that appears to have a body with two small legs , set against a dusty landscape of rocky hills. Photos taken less than a minute earlier show no trace of it. No other images captured that day recorded the figure. And NASA has offered no public explanation for the anomaly.
