German authorities defused a military-grade explosive drone discovered near a Ukrainian cargo plane at Leipzig/Halle Airport, an incident the country's interior minister called "a new threat scenario" that may involve foreign powers. A drone fitted with Semtex explosives and a detonator turned up overnight into Wednesday near the south runway of the major German cargo hub, parked close to a Ukrainian Antonov cargo aircraft. The German Federal Police bomb disposal unit removed the detonator, and a second drone apparently struck a DHL cargo plane that had aborted its landing after the runway was shut down.
