A tractor-trailer hauling squid to a processing facility overturned on a Narragansett, Rhode Island street and dumped its cargo across the pavement, closing the intersection for almost eight hours on a hot summer day. The trailer dislodged and tipped onto its side as the driver navigated a turn on the morning of August 16, spilling what police called a "substantial portion" of its load onto the roadway. Narragansett police responded at 9:27 a.m. and found squid blanketing the street. The intersection did not reopen until 5:15 p.m., nearly eight hours later, after crews brought in heavy equipment and a dump truck to scrape the mess off the pavement.
