On the day it started, only 27 percent of Americans supported the unprovoked military operation that interrupted ongoing diplomatic talks. Five months later, that number has changed little, with 35 percent of the 4,505 U.S. adults polled by Reuters/Ipsos in early August saying they approved of the war.
