Hosts of The View drew sharp backlash on social media after a heated on-air debate over whether Lindsay Clancy, the Massachusetts mother whose murder trial ended in a mistrial, deserves punishment for strangling her three children. The segment split the panel between sympathy for Clancy and insistence on accountability, and it split their audience even more sharply, with viewers on both sides flooding the social media platform X to accuse the hosts of ignorance, excuse-making, or prejudging a woman who has not been convicted.
